I spent most of yesterday in hospital, but also got my first go at a couple of games, including Blancat, and Wingspan PocketCapsule Collector also saw the light of day once again – I have a 100% win record at this so in line with one of my friends, I should immediately stop playing and hold onto my hard-earned title as Capsule Collector Champion, although that wouldn’t really give me enough plays to write an informed review and I’m not my friend, so I guess this will be hitting the table a bit more often in the near future!

Blancat was… interesting —and oh-so cutesy— but it’s going to take a few more plays and a lot more practice, but I have a lot of people rather looking forward to giving it another go, so time will tell on that one.

Now Wingspan Pocket I do like, although playing with anyone vaguely familiar with the original has already brought cries of “but it’s not as interesting, and there’s not much to it,” which I hope to explore deeper. I’m pretty sure it’s been designed like that, though, so hey ho…

I also played Omens for the first time last night (a team-based co-op game of sorts), and the jury is still out on this one… there’s a careful line between ‘random’ and “I don’t know how any sort of strategy is going to work here,” [polite translation of actual comment] so I’m hoping to try and get this to the table a few more times before offering any opinion. It does have some very beautifully designed card art, however, which makes for a promising first impression at least.
